Top 10 Podcasts for Entrepreneurs

In the past few years, podcasts have exploded in popularity and prevalence, and for good reason! As multitasking has become a necessity, people want to be entertained and maybe even learn something at the same time while they go about their day.

Why podcasts?

Here’s where podcasts enter into the fray. Podcasts are a great way to learn and be entertained, and still be able to focus on other tasks, something that you aren’t able to do with media like books. Podcasts cover every topic imaginable, from true crime and vegan diets to learning new languages and brushing up on your tech skills. Aspiring entrepreneurs and startup leaders have a wealth of podcasts to choose from when they’re looking for topics that are relevant and engaging.

There’s a fairly low barrier to entry into the world of podcasts; you only need to look at the top charts on streaming apps such as Audible, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Spotify, and Overcast to see how many podcasts there really are out there. There’s a podcast out there for everyone, and it sometimes feels like everyone has his or her own, especially since it has become relatively simple to record and produce your own podcast. Podcast host is the new blogger in some media circles, and nearly every media outlet has their own podcast that brings even more competition to the top charts.

On most streaming apps, podcasts will have a few short sentences that describe their contents, including host and run time. However, none of us want to sift through the hundreds of options available to find the shows that are going to be the most interesting and useful for us.

So here at StartUp Mindset, we’ve compiled a handy list of podcasts geared towards entrepreneurs and startups for you to guide your search.

Self Made Man

Hosted by investor and entrepreneur Mike Dillard, each episode invites a guest on and offers advice for startup leaders and would-be entrepreneurs to improve themselves and to tackle life’s problems. While this podcast is not solely devoted to entrepreneurs (the advice tackles everything from relationships to wealth), it offers valuable information that can help you to improve your work and home life.

The 20 Minute VC

The 20VC website includes additional interview questions that the guests answer, including their views on the future of VC, their favorite blogs and books, and how they got their start in entrepreneurship.

#AskGaryVee

It’s extremely popular for a reason; Gary Vaynerchuk has a big personality and the credentials to match. During the show, Vaynerchuk reads and answers viewer submitted questions about social media, marketing, entrepreneurship, and startups. Available in both audio and video, you can watch each recording of #AskGaryVee on YouTube if you want a break from the traditional podcast format.

Smart Passive Income

Generating passive income is a dream for many people. Who wouldn’t want to earn money while they sleep? Pat Flynn became an expert in generating passive income after losing his job during the Great Recession and through this podcast, he teaches others to make their money work for them rather than vice versa. This podcast focuses on implementable strategies that listeners can take and apply for themselves in their own online businesses.

The Pitch

Each episode, John Muccio takes you behind closed doors and puts you at the table of an investor pitch. Startup leaders and entrepreneurs pitch their solutions and ideas that will revolutionize the world. The best part? These are real entrepreneurs pitching to real investors, for real money. If you’ve got a pitch that you think will get you the approval of these investors, you can even apply to be a part of a future episode.

The most motivational entrepreneurs in the world have one thing in common: they’ve all been interviewed by John Lee Dumas. With over 1,700 interviews, you have your pick of the litter if you decide to jump into the episode archives.
