Google Ventures Releases Guide to Help Startups Create Better Products

Google Ventures has just released something that may be very valuable to startups of all sizes and sectors. GV is Google’s venture capital arm that invest seed, venture, and growth-stage capital to over 250 companies. Those companies include Uber, DocuSign, and Cloudera.

Recently, GV has released a do-it-yourself guide for startups looking to run a prototyping process that Google calls “sprints”. The sprint is a five-day process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers.

Here is a quick rundown of the sprint process:

  • Monday-Unpack the problem.
  • Tuesday-Sketch competing solutions on paper.
  • Wednesday-Argue and decide how to turn your ideas into testable hypothesis.
  • Thursday-Develop a high-fidelity prototype.
  • Friday-Test on humans.

Google is releasing this guide as a preparation for a future book release on these and other techniques.
