1. Create a Scoreboard

Some experts say that creating a scorecard for all parts of their life is helpful in creating goals. Metrics can help you to measure how effective your behaviors are. You can check in on your goal creating process weekly, monthly, and quarterly to see how well you’re doing. This is also really motivating.

Seeing the results in the short term keeps you invested, because you see that you’re making progress. This master scorecard you create makes it easy to see everything that’s involved with achieving goals. You can define where you’re making progress and what needs work. You can also gauge how much time it’s taking to achieve your goals.

Your goals will be less of a mystery when you create a scoreboard. Keeping score of your successes is like having a motivational coach in your life. You have to account for what you’re doing, which makes you less likely to drop your dreams.

Instead of coming up with a whole bunch of goals, keep your focus a little more narrow. Choose just two goals at a time, and put all your effort into those things. It takes less time to then accomplish those goals, so in the end, you will have achieved more long term.




6. Track Your Progress

Keeping track of where you’re at in term of your goals is a helpful way to meeting them. What you measure will get done. You’ll want to look at certain areas in your life you want to improve. From there, figure out what measurements will matter to you.

For example, if you want to have better health, you may use your waistline as a measurement to that success. If you want to have more money, look at your bank receipts to see where you can save or invest. It’s important to know where you stand right now in terms of your life. This helps you to create a greater strategy. You’ll have to think deeply and be very conscious about what is happening in your life. Having a visual idea of where you want to be and creating measurable actions will help you get there.

7. Find Support

It’s important to have a support system to help you achieve goals. This can come to you in many ways. A mentor is one type of support. Someone who has had similar achievements can guide you through on your journey. Family and friends can also be supporting. If you have a company and you’re looking to grow it, you want to have staff who will support your dreams.

Knowing that people are behind you gives you additional confidence to proceed. It is one of the simplest ways to achieve goals.
