Dara Khosrowshahi is not your typical high-profile CEO, that’s why it came as a shock to many when Uber’s Board of Directors choose him to replace Travis Kalanick as the new chief executive of Uber. Former CEO Travis Kalanick’s resignation dates back to late June, and the Uber fraternity has had to do without a CEO for two months or so. Dara Khosrowshahi is expected to accept the nomination which is rumored to offer a generous compensation package of $200 million.
Dara Khosrowshahi has gone from being an Iranian immigrant at the age of 9 to currently being the CEO of Expedia. He managed to get the nod despite stiff competition from Meg Whitman, chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and former GE CEO Jeff Immelt.
