Q. Tell us a little about your background.
I am originally from BC, growing up close to the Resort town of Whistler. I have been traveling the world for the past decade and have been writing professionally for the past five years.
Q. You mentioned that you’ve been traveling the world the past decade, where have your travels taken you?
I spend most of my time in Thailand but I also lived in Germany, Panama, and Costa Rica. I was lucky enough to travel through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia and into Bulgaria and Romania.
Q. Which country would you say is your favorite and why?
Thailand will always be my favorite because this is where it began. Now, I feel at home here and have an easy time getting around. I love the food, the people,culture, and history.
Q. When did you know you had a talent for writing and communication?
My grade 5 English teacher told me I was a gifted writer. What was easy for me seemed challenging for other classmates. I wrote every day from age 13 and on. I had a journal with me always, feeling like a fish out of water if I didn’t have a notepad with me.
Q. Tell us about your hobbies or how you like to spend your time when you’re not working.
I like laying in hammocks, swimming in warm turquoise waters, and buying stuff at local markets around the world. I’ve recently taken up yoga and mediation as well and will take my yoga teacher training next year.
Q. Is there a StartUp Mindset article that you are particularly proud of or enjoyed writing the most and why?
One of my favorite articles I wrote for StartUp Mindset was 7 Reasons Why Time Away From Your Business is Actually Beneficial for its Growth
While I was writing this article, I had people in the back of my mind that I once worked with. They would work themselves into the ground, never relaxing or taking time off. I feel like this article could leave important impressions on people. By spinning the ‘taking a break’ as a benefit, maybe some workaholics will see that there’s a better way of doing things.
Q. What advise would you give our readers who aspire to become digital nomadic entrepreneurs?
My advice is to hold onto your day job and start dabbling in your passion. I think you have to be passionate about being a digital nomad entrepreneur. You might be an accountant at your job right now, but is that what you’re passionate about? At the end of the day, it’s still work and although there is a freedom, don’t forget your freedom of choice to do whatever you want.
